Amanda’s Story

Navigating addiction is difficult for everyone involved. Those addicted find themselves trapped in an endless cycle of using and swearing it off. The family members of addicts find themselves resentful, desperate, and drowning in fear.

In 2021, Amanda’s younger sister, Jennifer, died from a drug overdose. She died alone in a motel room and was discovered the following morning. To say that this was earth-shattering would be an understatement. The walls seemingly closed in and life would never be the same again.

The process of grief was overbearing and brought Amanda to the very edge of her existence. She felt lost, alone, and surrounded by enough darkness to bring anyone to their knees. She found herself sitting with regret, obsessive thoughts, remorse, anger, and confusion. The same questions kept being asked over and over. What more could I have done? What did I miss? How could I have prevented this? Why didn’t I try harder? Why didn’t she just get sober?

Since healing and recovering from such a traumatic and devastating event, Amanda has found herself reemerged with a new mission. This mission is to fill the space between families and addicts. To help bridge the gap and offer clearer communication and action-based plans for all parties involved. No one should feel isolated and desperate. No one should feel confused and hopeless. No one should be looked at with sad eyes and left with unspoken words.

Amanda’s mission is to fill the spaces that she herself needed filled during such hopeless times. She works directly with addicts and the family members of addicts to help guide them through the process of addiction and recovery. She aims to offer clear insight and honesty.
